Choosing independence again

When I was a young girl, I was strong, harsh and at times, selfish. I thought I  knew what was best for me, and I was extremely strict with myself. I always believed I could do better, that I should be better and above all that, I should be independent.

I could talk back to people. I could make people shut their mouths. I confidently talked about becoming a doctor or engineer. Looking back, I realize I did not really know myself then. I was constantly regretting things I had done and trying to change myself.

I aspire to be independent, getting my own things done, going alone and doing the things without really having to rely on others. However, over time, I have become someone who really needs someone to do something. It just feels so awkward to do my own things alone like going shopping, eating alone or getting a taxi.

I was waiting for a taxi and I realized why I was not able to come early and get the taxi myself rather than needing my husband to do it for me. I am usually an extrovert and can talk so much but when it comes to asking somebody for directions when I am with people, I really suck at it.

Instead of being an independent girl, I became somebody who relies so much on others. It was an hour-long journey and for the whole journey, I reflected on myself being so dependent. The scenery was so beautiful but my thoughts went on why I became this dependent.

In fact everything is not really planned or intentioned that I want others to help me but it was out of habit or insecurities that I have become like this unknowingly. I introspected a lot and decided to be mindful of what I am doing. Actually, I asked my friends for help to drop me off, but today, I came on my own. I was afraid because there was a scary dog on the way and I almost backed it out but I encouraged myself and went on my own.

My husband usually picks me up from the town but today I said I will come on my own. I got my own taxi and came home.  I also went to the store alone but it made me so awkward that the owner kept tailing me. I know she meant good intentions but for me it was a total awkward.

Independence is not being strong or harsh or selfish, for me it is self dignity and I guess I have lost it for a while. I will get my own things done and over time, I will get rid of all the awkwardness and I will be me again. Not being a doctor or an engineer but being me, doing my own things, being able to roam alone and not getting upset when there is no one to rely on.

Going alone will not make me look stray or I will not melt. Having someone beside you doesn't always make one a legend. Alone means solitude and peace of mind.

Introspect yourself, but More Importantly, LOVE yourself.

How many embarrassing moments do you have in your life? Well, for me I have many. Some are quite depressing to even think about.  Have you always spoken your thoughts out to the people? It's a big No for me. If I have always spoken my thoughts out, I don't know whether I will be proud and happy of myself or maybe left out somewhere with no one around.  I have always suppressed my feelings, filtered the words that came out of my mouth and put on a smile to disguise everything so that I can fit in this society.  Have you ever regretted doing something and did it all over again?  I did it so many times and regretted every time. I don't know why but I am sure that's my unstable mind making the same wrong choice over and over again.  Does your mind replay the embarrassing moments again and again? My mind does it every time and I feel depressed and embarrassed every time I remember.  Have you bought something and wished you never bought that just so you could hav...

Leadership, Legacy, and Lessons: The Words of Bhutan’s Kings.

11.11 I am truly blessed to be born in Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Our country is not only rich in values and culture but also takes great pride in its natural heritage, with 69.71% of its land under forest cover—well above the constitutional requirement to maintain at least 60%. Bhutan is a peaceful nation, often referred to as the last Shangri-La, and above all, it is fortunate to be guided by benevolent and visionary leaders who embody the highest ideals. Our monarchs lead by example and inspire, motivate, encourage, and empower every Bhutanese. We, the people of Bhutan, are privileged to have selfless monarchs who have gone to the battlefield to protect their citizens and who have sacrificed personal comforts to serve the nation. Since the establishment of the monarchy in 1907, our kings have served with unparalleled dedication, compassion, empathy, love, care, and determination. This year, our Fourth Druk Gyalpo turns Seventy. When His Majesty described the Fourt...

Why gratitude matter and how it can change our life.

Things I am grateful for in life I am grateful for the beautiful motherhood that my son gave me. He always smiles at me and he understands me more than anyone would ever do. He gave me the reason I should be at my better version and the reason I should do the best. The energy he gives me and the motivation I see in my son make my life a lot better. I am grateful that I have him as my son and I will try my every best to give him the best life he deserves.  As a working mom, things would have been so difficult without the help of my mother. Taking the role of baby sitter to take care of my son. I am forever grateful for her for giving me this life and now I am even more grateful for her for taking care of my son.  Though it aches my heart for not being able to do anything grand for her. She stood beside me for any decision I make in my life, she was there cheering for every little success I have and she just feels happy to see me living, giving a whole lot of reasons that...
